Unless you are a body builder or wish to increase muscle mass, most of us do not need to eat any more food when we exercise. Yes, it might make us hungrier, but you must not give in to the temptation or reward yourself for a job well done, because it takes a whole lot of running, walking, biking, or swimming to burn off that reward doughnut.
People tend to inflate the fat-burning power of their exercise regimen in a very real way. A quick run in the morning doesn’t entitle you to a food reward—that’s counterproductive to our goal here. Losing weight isn’t always easy or comfortable. (And depending on your metabolism, neither is maintaining it.) I’m not trying to be a killjoy. That’s just the way it is.
I’m not a gym rat by any stretch of the imagination. I was an overweight child and hated exercise with a passion. So I understand the intensity of the dislike. I still don’t enjoy going, but I make regular exercise a core part of my life. Please join me. All it takes is practice and, most importantly, commitment.
